Dune: Imperium是一款利用卡牌建構以加入隱藏資訊的角度到傳統工人放置的桌遊，它從Frank Herbert、Brian Herbert、Kevin J. Anderson的開創性文學系列及傳奇影業的電影Dune中的元素及角色獲得靈感。

作為Landsraad的其中一個偉大家族的領袖，立刻舉起你的旗幟指揮軍隊，戰爭即將於沙漠星球 – Arrakis發生。

開始時，玩家會有一張獨特的領袖卡及一張與其他玩家相同的卡牌庫，當你取得不同卡而建立自己的牌庫時，你的選擇會界定你的強弱，卡牌讓你可以派遣特使到遊戲板上某些區域，故你的牌庫變化會影響你的策略，你可能會於軍事上更強大，能夠比對手部署更多軍隊，又或者你會獲得一些卡牌使你於4個政治派別中(Emperor、Spacing Guild、Bene Gesserit、Fremen)佔據優勢。

跟很多牌庫建構遊戲不同，玩家不會一輪打出全副手牌，相反，於每輪開始時，你會抽取卡牌，與其他玩家執行一個特使行動(打出一張卡派遣一個特使到遊戲板)；如果於你的輪次時已經沒有特使，你需要執行一個揭示輪次，翻開手上所有卡，提供「信念」及「劍」，前者可以用作獲取更多卡，而後者則協助你的軍隊爭逐這輪翻開了的衝突卡上顯示的獎賞。

於衝突中打敗對手，精明地駕馭不同的政治派系，以及拿取更多卡牌，「香料」必須流動才可以帶領你的派系勝出。
